Summary

To drug enforcement agent Jackson Maclean, Carly Adams' sleepy mountain town's Oktoberfest is a real sham. He's come to town to unearth drug ring dealers, and this time, it's personal. To Carly Adams, the owner of the local tea shop, Jack is handsome, rugged, and barking up the wrong tree if he thinks she knows anything about his case. But he's gotten a tip that her shop is a front for the drugs, so his investigation includes learning all about the beautiful tea shop owner. Before long, he's falling hard for Carly's air of innocence. But he's also finding clues that turn the investigation toward a car accident she was involved in that killed her fiancé and caused her trauma-induced amnesia....

I think it interesting that I picked up this book before reading Backfire or Perfect Enough, both of which I now plan to read. Her memoir gives us insight into Carly's history, her professional development, and her side of the HP saga. As a woman in business, I found her open and honest approach...more...

this book is very "business-y," but quite interesting for those with interest in this area. fiorina does not (like most business poeple) use a ghost writer or coauthor, but instead tells her story in her own words. she is very honest and her tales are illuminating about the types of chal...more...

I heard Ms. Fiorina speak at a conference. It wasn't terribly interesting, but everyone was snatching up her book. So I checked it out of the library. Glad I didn't buy it. I never finished it. It was really boring. I thought she would have beeen a more interesting person. I'm debating whether or no...more...

I wanted to read this because I saw her speak at one of our hotel conferences and I thought she was really compelling. But after reading the book, I felt she was self-absorbed and simply wrote a book for people to "marvel at what I have overcome" and even a bit narcisistic. I found the b...more...

I saw Ms. Fiorina on Good Morning America awhile back. I was amazed by her poise and polish. Her knowledge and depth inspired me to learn more. While enjoying my daily walk around downtown Chicago for lunch, I stopped in the Sears Tower bookstore and immediately bought this book. Ms. F...more...

I thought it was well written and honest. Obviously, she has a different take than most on her HP ouster and the events leading to it. But the insights and stories she relates about the beginning of her career are interesting and insightful. She definetely focuses on her career, and doesn't really d...more...

It was interesting reading her side, after she was trashed by the HP board. She comes across as a pretty competent, cool leader, and her detractors as petty and malicious. Of course, every story has 2 (or more sides). Now that MCCain's considering her as a VEEP choice, it becomes important to sort o...more...

A very American story about the worlod of big business, class, women in the workplace and the price of success and power. I ...more...
