This diet works, but if you're not willing to change your lifestyle, you'll fall off really quick.. I lost atleast 30 lbs on it, but then I got bored. So yes, it does work, if you're willing to stick with it.

I lost nearly 20 pounds on this, but the best thing is that it got me cooking from scratch a lot more. Now I make my own granola, whole wheat bread, yogurt, and hummus on a regular basis. I love it!

Book is well written. I can see where this works, but it was too hard for me. I will stick with Weight Watchers, because I like being able to eat carbs when I want them.... and I was getting sick of scrambled eggs.

Doctor's orders for Gordon and I both. Actually has worked quite well - 20 pounds lost during the holidays if you can imagine. The food even in the strict phase is surprisingly not a problem for either of us.

I tried it. I did it for three weeks and got the T-shirt. I did lose about 18# and then gained it all back when I went on a carb-crazed binge. These kinds of diets are too hard to maintain for weak willed people like me.

I tried the first Phase a few years ago, and while I lost weight, I also had two separate "sugar crashes" (for lack of a better word). I promptly gave up - so, I'm faced with how to make it work for me. I'm feelign the drag of sugar addiction, so I do need help.

I have done Weight Watchers and other diets and this is by far the best. In Weight Watchers it was easy to not focus on what is good for you and just focus on getting thin. The South Beach Diet teaches you lifelong healthy eating not just getting thin. It focuses on eating less carbs, that are non-c...more...

I learned that I love this book and the diet works for me. In less than 4 months I've lost 35 lbs. I personally don't follow the recipe plan because I live alone. However I reccomend this book to everyone wanting to lose weight. It has three "stages". I am on phase one still.

Read it tried it failed it along with so many other "diets". From the second phase on, it probable is pretty reasonable. In the first highly restricted carb phase, I felt very ill and had to add some fruit to my diet. A healthier version of the Atkins diet low carb but not as insanely kidn...more...

This book literally saved my life. I began the South Beach Diet January 1, 2007 and lost 30 pounds. However, I have since gained all my weight back.
