Summary

Nicholai is next in line to be an Earl and has fallen for a beautiful girl during his stay in England in the late 18th century. He is planning to propose to her when a vampire takes that from him as he is manipulative and has other plans for her. Plans that don-t include Nicholai. However, because of her love for the foreigner, he gives him the gift of immortality. Nicholai doesn-t see it as a gift but rather as a curse especially as the years pass. In modern day America, he has a good life. He has invested well over the last two centuries and is wealthy beyond most people-s wildest dreams but he is bored with the immortal life and plans to sleep for a long while when he comes across a young woman working late in a new antique store. Something about her draws his interest and when he meets her, it is like seeing his one true love again. Does history really repeat itself or can the cycle be broken?

While Equiano is no professional writer, he sure has a captivating life story and fascinating tales. I really enjoyed reading and learning about his rich history. Very interesting information regarding his tribe in Guinea and cultural similarities with the Jews--even down to specific rituals. He's q...more...
