It's been a long time since I first read this story and how much I had forgotten! After reading Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and seen the musical, I can see how both have taken so much from the original story (and thankfully not the horrible original movie version). If ...more...

This book made me unbelievably happy. I've wanted to read this book for as long as I can remember, but I've never managed to find it - until I walked into a charity shop after complaining that I've never found it & it was sitting there. 50p. Bargain. Needless to say I snapped it up & made it mine fr...more...

I have always found the movie pretty boring, but the story fascinating. Then I realized I had never actually -read- the story. So I decided to. I picked up my copy for $5 in the kid's section, and while I felt a little embarrassed checking out, let me tell you-this is a fantastic version. ...more...

It's odd that this is the first time I've read an Oz book. I think I started one or two, long ago, and never finished them. But many people rave about Oz, and I love old books from that era (especially children's books), so recently I picked it up and read it through. It didn't take long....more...

I just picked up a copy this summer at the used book store to add to my son's collection and ended up reading it after reading Waking the Dead by John Eldredge because he references the story so often as he does other mythic tales, such as Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, and Narnia. I probably read i...more...

There's this kickass iphone app called 'Stanza' where you can upload a bunch of books to your phone...for free! When I first downloaded the app I didn't realize how it worked and only found two free titles: Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz....more...
