Author biography:

 

Tony Wells is an American who has been working and living in Southeast Asia since the early 80's. He initially came to SEA to work out of Singapore as a Commercial Deep-Sea Diver in Offshore Oilfield industry. Inspection and Underwater Photography were his specialty. During his 'oilfield' days he also learned how to do marine surveys and pilot Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV's).

In the late 80's/early 90's he became involved with treasure hunting and was one of the crew of the team which were search for one of the most famous Portuguese vessels which ever sank, the Flor do Mar, off the coast of Indonesia in 1511. While 'officially' the Flor do Mar was never located this experince changed Tony's life because as a result of this involvement he spent many hours doing maritime research and even wrote a book about this experience titled, Shipwrecks & Sunken Treasure In Southeast Asia (published by Times Editions - Singapore - 1995).
