Summary:

Through the staccato energy and musical temperance of rhyming verse and iambic articulation, A Lover's Anthem speaks the inimitable language of unrequited love and romantic indestructibility. It is a collection of aesthetically sensitive and moral insights drawn from some seventy years of a life seldom in retreat but ever striving prophetically for the concept of love made perfect through honesty and truth. Elegantly written in poetic structures reminiscent of Sara Teasdale, Emily Dickinson and Robert Service, these are bittersweet poems designed to caress the heart and stimulate even the most prosaic soul. Indeed, here is an anthem to love's emotional transfiguration and a homage to every struggling dreamer who cherishes inimitable love, chivalry and the romantic ideal.

Author biography:

World War Two veteran, father of four, 91 years young and a freelance writer and novelist for over sixty years, Elsan H. Stafford has had a number of poems, short stories and journalistic pieces published in both regional and national publications during his long literary career. Besides having seen his major tome "The Blue Marionette" previously published in print, Elsan has penned two other novels, an extensive short story as well as complete manuscript of poetry (three of which are published and available on this web site), and keeps extremely busy assisting his youngest son in his endeavors to fine-tune and market the many screenplays he has written. His favorite authors who have inspired him the most remain Edgar Allan Poe, Thomas Wolfe, Victor Hugo, Laurence Hope and George Byron, to name a few. For it is the slice-of-life genre through which he enjoys writing, and believes that a central theme and moral conclusion are essential to a poem or story’s success.
