Book I - In the year 1799 in Cornwall, England at Cardon Hall, four people are intertwined in a hopeless situation that ends in murder. Almost two centuries later the four protagonists are reborn to meet and repeat or rectify the past wrong. They are Lance Stevens, Kenn Michael Harrison, James Brandon and Claire Deveraux. In 1974 Claire and Lance, both attractive, very articulate and intelligent, encounter each other when seventeen-year-old Claire goes to Cornwall for the summer holidays. It's love and recognition at first sight on Lance's part, because he's been haunted by nightmares of the 1700s.
Lance invites Claire to Cardon Hall, his family's ancestral home, where she, too, begins to experience very vivid memories of the past. Lance is convinced that he has found his ancient love. Claire on the other hand is dismayed by what is happening to her. However, her best friend Elsa, familiar with reincarnation through her spiritualist grandmother helps Claire to understand better and fully accept her connection with Lance. Initially, Lance and Claire's relationship is almost like a fairy tale, despite the feelings of doom both have stemming from the tragic past that hangs over them. Then Claire's mother dies and she is relieved to have to join the rest of her family in Canada. For, as much as she loves Lance, Claire does not feel ready to get married at seventeen. Lance gives Claire his ring, and she promises to return. But, deep within, she wonders if she really will. Ahead of her lies encounters with Kenn and James that will create further doubts for Claire. Are she and Lance truly star-crossed lovers, or merely two mortals drawn together by unresolved forces from the past?
Book II - In Toronto she is very happy living with her sister Liana and her husband Peter. However, her bitchy, jealous sister, Helena who has sponsored Claire into Canada and is technically her legal guardian, uses every opportunity she gets to be cruel to Claire. Soon, Claire realizes she wants to be with Lance some day, but only when the time is right. But, disturbingly, she begins to experience nightmares of an ancient murder associated with her past life with Lance. After an attack of acute appendicitis, Claire encounters Dr. James Brandon, who saves her life. Yet, she can't understand the immediate distaste she feels towards him, is even more disturbed by the nightmares of that past life the meeting triggers. Claire attempts to focus on her future with Lance, and put Dr. Brandon out of her mind once she is no longer in his care. What she doesn't realize is that the doctor is a man with a secret and dangerous past, who has become obsessed by her. His obsession with Claire is so strong he is determined to stop at nothing to possess her. Not even rape or murder!
Book III - Claire continues to be haunted by nightmares of an 18th century murder. After being raped by James Brandon, she learns Lance has died in an Andean plane crash. She marries a seemingly contrite James when she finds she is pregnant from the rape and becomes the target of his obsessive and murderous jealousy. In a seemingly impossible situation along with her precious baby son, Claire has a gift that will be instrumental in her escape. She meets Kenn Michael Harrison who propels her pop super stardom as her manager. He is also the one man who can explain the mysterious nightmares of an ancient murder that have haunted her for so long. Soon she begins to expect that she is fated to die violently at her husband's hands the same way the woman who haunts her dreams died.
Book IV - James Brandon learns that Lance is still alive and flies into a murderous rage. Stalking Claire as she tours the concert halls of England, James will unwittingly set the stage for himself, Claire, Kenn Michael and Lance to come together in a final confrontation at Cardon Hall. There Claire find herself once again in Lance's arms on a night that will see the events of two hundred years ago replayed once again. A night of love that will also end only in death and tragedy.
While primarily an artist, I discovered a love for writing in my teenage years. However, I didn't start writing seriously until my 21st birthday….doing it the hard way. Meaning, I ran the gamut of unfulfilling jobs ranging from Administrative Assistant to Security Officer while writing my first novel; Love's Legacy, in every minute of my spare time. I won’t go into how long it took me, doing it this way, but I'll say it was a valuable learning experience. I once read in a writers’ magazine that the more unpleasant the job, the better it is for a writer as it is what propels him or her to persevere with his/her craft and not give up. However, on a more positive front working in different locations as a temp certainly provided me the opportunity to observe the way people interact with one another; an experience that was invaluable for allowing me to create believable characters in my books. The spiritual overtones and references to reincarnation mentioned in my stories came about from my own experiences as a seeker of spiritual truths, having been an Evangelical Christian who soon found that I could no longer be at peace living my life within the parameters of church dogma. I am still an artist, participating as frequently as possible in Studio Tours, as well as various Arts related activities in my community in the east end of Toronto, Canada, where I currently live. You may visit my site at www.clublighthousestudio.co.uk. I have a deep love of nature and animals and currently share my abode with a regal Himalayan feline dependant who just happens to know the meaning of her name; Princess. In Impostor, she is my prototype for Grizabella. I would indeed love to have a hundred cats like Hemingway, but I fear Her Majesty would throw a major hissy fit and stalk right out the door. However, recently she was forced to accept Duchess, a part Maine Coon I rescued in our neighbourhood park. As of this writing, we're (all three of us) are still in the adjustment phase.
