Welcome to Lavender Skies, the over-the-top Palm Springs, California trailer park where every home is an homage to a classic Hollywood film (everything from “Gone With the Wind” to “Beach Blanket Bingo”) and the residents – mostly men and mostly gay –(surprise! surprise!) are as outrageous as their trailers. Where else but Lavender Skies could an innocent rube like Wayne (“Beach Blanket Bingo”) Fontaine mingle with the likes of notorious mobster Ginger (“Roman Holiday”) Biscotti, over-the-hill Hollywood heart-throb Mars (“Viva, Palm Springs!”) Wagner and a ridiculously over-tattooed and over-sexed marine, Ulysses S. (“The Green Berets”) Ackerman? Where else could sedate afternoon sex orgies, clandestine love affairs, an outrageous real estate scam, an appalling 87-year-old Follies showgirl, a Mafia murder and one super-star outing converge in a movie premiere the likes of which even Hollywood never saw before? Sometimes uproarious, generally outrageous, and totally page-turning, Lavender Skies is a fun read in the tradition of E.F. Benson and Armistead Maupin (…or if you’re not the literary type, it’s like “The Golden Girls” and “The Nanny” were gay guys).

Stephen Kelley Roos was born in New York, inheriting an addiction to celebrities from his parents, mystery writers Audrey Kelley and William Roos. Eschewing sports, scouts and all other wholesome but boring boyhood activities, Steve distinguished himself by joining the Columbia Record Club when he was just 11, getting his own subscription to “Variety” when he was 14 and being hailed a few years later in his high school year book as “the only member of the senior class to know Bette Davis’ age in hours.” Since graduating from Yale, he has worked as an editor in New York, served as a features writer for Men Mode and Couture magazines, and is the author of nearly two dozen novels for young adults. He and his partner, fashion diva David Wolfe, divide their time between New York City, Litchfield, Connecticut and Palm Springs, California.
