An overview of the Ryan Reynold workout
There is one thing that can be said for Hollywood actors, when they need to get in shape for a movie role, they do it! After all, it’s their job and they don’t really have much choice. The simple fact is this; they have a pretty much unlimited budget which gives them access to the best personal trainers in the industry and also the best nutritionists.
So when Ryan Reynolds was asked to get ripped for some of his recent movies such as Green Lantern and Blade Trinity, that’s exactly what he did. A lot of people claimed he had added over twenty pounds of lean muscle onto his very slim frame. If you look at Ryan in 2006 and then look at him recently you can see a very big difference indeed. Although nobody knows the full details of the Ryan Reynolds workout, there was some information which he gave out. To begin with his workout was built upon the principle of free weight training give times a week. Whilst that might seem like a lot, it was said Ryan kept his workouts short and sweet, usually completing them within forty five minutes.
Ryan did not spend lots of time only things like curls and leg extensions; instead he focused more on big exercises, a.k.a the big three; squats, deadlifts and bench press. These type of exercises work multiple muscle growth and also provide the body with ‘the perfect anabolic environment’ to help build lots of mass throughout the whole body. These are most certainly the exercises that anybody should focus on if they wish to gain overall body mass. The Ryan Reynolds workout was simple but effective but it was also very hard work indeed.
The Diet – More important than the Ryan Reynolds workout was the diet itself. After all, Ryan needed to ensure his body was properly fuelled so he could:
- Have plenty of energy for his workouts
- Have plenty of nutrients and protein to help his muscles grow
Of course, counting calories was important. After all, Ryan had to make sure he was gaining muscle but not fat. In his latest movies you can see the mass he has put on but you can also see that he has gained very little fat since his abs are still very visible. So his diet had to consist of wholesome and good foods but also lots of them. To help speed up his metabolism Ryan ate every couple of hours and was sure to include a good protein source in each meal, usually from meat or fish.
The end result was very impressive as you can see from Ryan’s latest photos. It took hard work and he admits that the Ryan Reynolds workout is one that he wouldn’t recommend to the faint hearted. Blood sweat and tears were shed but there is no doubt on the effectiveness of it in terms of hypertrophy (muscle growth). For those who are beginning their weight lifting efforts, it’s certainly a workout that is recommended but an equal amount of effort should be put onto the diet as well to ensure recovery and growth.
