For the most part Bogota is a thriving metropolis with a painted landscape of skyscrapers surrounded by mountains.
Most mornings I would go to the gym and workout. The gym I went to was the best gym I have ever seen. It had every kind of workout machine imaginable and the trainers there were excellent. They had a spinning class there that lots of people enjoyed. After the spinning class was finished cleaners would go in there and remove all the bikes. They would clean the bikes and clean the floor. Cleaners were always busy cleaning everywhere in that gym.
On the way to the gym I would stop for fresh brewed coffee and bun. There is nothing like the coffee in Colombia. Often the little shops that sell coffee grow it themselves. They have a little farm (finca), where they grow coffee and usually mangos. The bread and sweets are often baked in the back of these shops. These places are called Panaderias.
One of my favorite past times was visiting Zona Rosa. Zona Rosa like any upscale area of a modern city. It has kinds of funky shops with brand names like Prada, Nike, Gucci and such. I like browse around Andino Mall and do some girl watching. My night usually ended up drinking some Colombia Beer and the Bogotá Beer Company pub.
One of the problems with Bogota is that it is very expensive to rent a hotel room. Most rooms will cost you over $50 US and they are quite basic. Getting accommodation or lodging in the Zona Rosa area will set you back around 100 US. On my first visit to Bogota I rented a room in a guest house. It was in a good area and I felt safe. It thought I would get a bargain here because it came with breakfast. However, after short while I tired of the same food and ate my breakfast at a Panderia that was close by. Another thing I did not like is I had to be home at a certain time or I would be locked out.I was fortunate to find a friend in the neighborhood who knew of a woman who rented out her condominium. I ended up paying the same for a large room in her condo with all kinds of extra benefits. Some of those were access to the internet, toaster (love my toast), micro wave (great for left over pizza), juicer (fresh fruits are great in Bogota) and full use of the kitchen anytime I wanted it. I could also come and go anytime and my room had two secure locks on it. Also, her condo was located in an upscale building with 24/7 security. An added bonus was when I rented her condo there was nobody else renting at the time. I had full use of the entire apartment.

Give your family and friends great discounts on your services…but do NOT give any service out for free to ANYONE. Once you are servicing all of your family and friends, politely explain to them that you are working to grow your business. Ask them to email everyone on their contact list your information and a recommendation of your work. You will have an exploding phone line overnight. In fact, don’t request this of ALL your family and friends at the same time. Stagger this out, because you will likely get several calls from EACH person who emails out to recommend you.
