New trends in web site markeing for small b2b companies.
Small b2b companies usually do not have large budgets to spend on their web marketing and web site. So it is much more important for these companies to know where they should spend their money. I am a professional web designer in Egypt with over 15 years experience and have worked with hundreds of clients to publish and market their web site.
First of all pick a web design agency that knows SEO. Most of them claim that they do, but most do not. The best way to find if a design company knows a lot about SEO is to actually find them on the first page of Google for the search terms that are commonly used for finding such companies. For example if you are in Egypt, search for “SEO company Egypt”. And pick a couple of companies on the first page of this result and get prices from them. SEO is expensive if you choose generic keywords, but if you choose specialty keywords with the keyword of your geographic location for example “Central Air conditioning contractor in Cairo” then you should get a lower quote from your SEO company. If the company does not differentiate in cost of different search terms then find one that does. Also note that in many instances you will need to pay a monthly fee for the company to do drip link building and other SEO work to keep you on the first page of niche keywords.
Although many marketers do not recommend facebook fan pages for small b2b companies because of the cost of building a large user base, I fully recommend it simply because if you handle it, the cost is very low and if you give the web design company your facebook fan page they will usually integrate the like button for free. Of coarse a fully designed facebook fan page with interactivity will cost a lot, but a plain vanilla fan page costs nothing, but you need to tell your clients about it directly and request them to like it. In small towns and medium sized town where people know each other or know of each other, such fan pages are excellent referrals. Remember since you do not want to spend money to promote your fan page you need to actually make your clients like it by personal and direct means, be persistent.
This leads us to one of the most important things for a small b2b company and that is publishing your client’s testimonials on your site. For this I recommend that your web site be based on a content management system that you can use to be able to upload the testimonials to it. Video testimonials work best, you do not need a camera crew for testimonials for a small company. Your mobile’s video will suffice, make sure that your client identifies himself and his company in the beginning of the testimonial. Clients will usually be reluctant to do this, for that try to give a small incentive for a testimonial, such as a discount or a freebie. If your web site is not dynamic you can have a link to your fan page and put video and scans of paper testimonial letters on the facebook fan page.
Also of high importance is getting your website listed on google places and trying to advertise it on google’s PPC with geographic targeting. Your best bet with these is to ask your web design company to start you off and train you on how to best use these tools, or search online for resources if you are a self learner.
Although these recommendations will work for all company types the above article is optimized for small b2b companies. Larger b2b and consumer companies should have a larger budget to spend on their online marketing and should not limit them selves to the above inexpensive choices.
